This summer, we’re flipping Shakespeare on his head – literally.  Welcome to ‘HAMLET…A Comedy”, a one-of-a-kind environmental comedy drama camp where the world’s most dramatic prince becomes the star of his very own remix.  Existential dead?  Sure.  Ghost dads?  Absolutely.   But this time we’re serving it up with punchlines, pratfalls and perfectly timed plot twists.

Join the cast of this year’s Empress summer camp in the park as we turn the ultimate tragedy into tn absurdly brilliant comedy.  You’ll help reimagine characters, create amazing scenes, and bring Hamlet’s emotional meltdown to life…in the most ridiculous way possible.

No acting experience?  No Sweat.  We’ll teach you everything you need to know – from stage presence to building a character.  This is perfect for anyone who loves to perform, laugh, or just be a little extra.

What to Expect:

  • Improv games and over-the-top rehearsals

  • A completely original, totally Hamlet mash-up

  • A performance for family and friends on the last day

Get ready to turn Denmark upside down!  This isn’t your English teacher’s Hamlet – it’s way more fun!

Sign up fast – because comedy waits for no one.

WHAT IS CAMP FOR TEENS?

Camp is the most amazing experience a teenager can have. Surrounded with like-minded teens, who are as passionate about the performing arts as you are, you will be encouraged and stretched to increase your skills in acting and in life.  It is like a 5-day creativity party with 14 of your closest friends (that you may not have even met yet).
This year it’s 5 days immersed in environmental theatre as the Empress summer camp creates a safe space so you can take enormous creative risks.
Imagine a place where you laugh, do things you love, and learn new skills. A place where everyone treats everyone else as equals, and you can take the biggest creative risks you have ever taken.
Well that is what acting camp is like. There are no words, you have to come and experience it for yourself.

Camp is...

The Empress Drama day camps are where the real magic happens. Well, okay, we will be sprinkling magic in this year’s fall classes too, but there's something truly special about camp. It's five days completely immersed in our boundless creativity, where everyone discovers they can be more than they ever imagined.

A SAFE SPACE

Campers will be joining their fellow creatives in an agreement to totally support each other, to create safe places to take creative risks.

We hear from some families that this is the first time that they have experienced anything this supportive. Having a chance to learn and practice in this way, is why people keep coming back year after year.
